A study comparing Biothera’s Wellmune to other forms of beta glucans was published in an April 2011 edition of the journal Nature. The researchers tested the ability of several different forms of beta glucans to activate Dectin-1, a key receptor that primes immune cells to defend against foreign elements. They found that Wellmune activated Dectin-1 while other soluble forms of beta glucans did not. This study demonstrates that the structure of beta glucans is important in supporting the immune system, and that Wellmune’s structure is suited to do just that.

Study Indicates MonaVie RVL Shake May Help Maintain Healthy Blood Glucose Levels

MonaVie RVLA recent study conducted by Glycemic Index Laboratories found that MonaVie RVL Nutrition Shake Mix has a Glycemic Index (GI) rating of 25 + 3, which places the product in the “Low GI” category. This indicates that MonaVie RVL Nutrition Shake Mix may help maintain healthy blood glucose levels.

The consumption of low GI foods has been studied as an aide in weight management. Low GI diets have been linked to enhancements in blood sugar maintenance, cardiovascular health, and improvement in overall health. They may also help you feel fuller longer compared to high GI foods.

About the Study
The GI rating of MonaVie RVL Nutrition Shake Mix was determined by testing the glycemic response of 15 healthy adults to 50 grams of “available carbohydrate” of MonaVie RVL Nutrition Shake Mix compared to 50 grams of “available carbohydrate” of white bread. (Available carbohydrate is defined as total carbohydrates minus fiber.)

The participants were tested on four separate occasions. Each time, two fasting blood samples were taken, the test food (RVL Shake Mix or white bread) was consumed, and blood samples were taken again. The blood samples were then used to measure blood glucose and glucose response curves, which were used to calculate the GI rating.

The Glycemic Index rating is an important measurement used around the world to help consumers understand how the foods they eat impact their blood sugar levels. The GI of glucose is 100. “High GI” values are between 70 and 100; “intermediate GI” values are between 55 and 69; and, “low GI” values are less than 55.

Women Experience Fewer Cold/Flu Symptoms, Higher Energy Levels with Wellmune®

A recent study evaluated the effect of Wellmune—a key ingredient in MonaVie (M)mūn—on upper-respiratory tract infections (URTIs) and psychological well being.

Healthy women, pre-screened for moderate levels of psychological stress, self-administered a placebo or 250 mg of Wellmune daily for 12 weeks. Subjects in the Wellmune group reported fewer URTI symptoms, better overall well being, and superior mental and physical energy levels compared to the group that took the placebo.
